Thank You: A huge thanks to everyone who brought in items and monetary donations for the Operation Christmas Child shoeboxes. Also a special thanks to everyone who stayed on Sunday to help pack them. We reached our goal of 50 boxes. We hope to make this an annual event and will be giving monthly reminders to bring in various items to help fill the boxes for next year. It was fun to work together and the children wrote letters which were added to a few boxes.
We are looking for anyone interested in doing a Red Cross standard First Aid and CPR course, sometime in the next month or two, during the evening and/or weekends. Course is 16 hours long and can be done in 1 or 2 weeks, cost is $95 plus HST. Please see Shelley if you or know someone who might be interested, 10 people minimum needed.

Please bring in any items to help us fill as many boxes as possible and keep in mind the $7 shipping cost per box. You can give any monetary donations to Shelley and she will put them aside in a safe place. Any donations of $15 or more (cheques only), you will receive a tax receipt. Please make your cheques out to Samaritian’s Purse (cash donations are also fine). You can place the items in the box on the Welcome center table or just at the back of the church. There are empty boxes if you prefer to fill your own at home. We could use more items for boys and younger children (ages 2-4) although we appreciate all items! Shoeboxes will be taken to the Nazarene church on Monday November 17th. Spread the word and invite your friends to join us!

Operation Christmas Child shoeboxes.... it is never too early to start thinking about the shoeboxes and how each one has such an impact on a child. We are encouraging you to start shopping for your box or boxes now! School supplies are much cheaper this time of year and many summer items are on clearance, making this the ideal time to get started. If you pick up 2-3 items a week between now and early November, you will have enough items to fill a few boxes. We are planning on getting together here at the church to fill shoeboxes with everything that has been collected.

We are planning on getting together here at the church to fill shoeboxes with everything that has been collected.

This comprehensive Hospice PEI training program is open to anyone interested in becoming a hospice volunteer. Maritime Christian Bookstore is hosting a Summer Reading Program: from June 23 - August 23, which is open to all children and youth, ages 5-15. Each participant is encouraged to read at least 6 books, and for every completed and returned form, there will be a prize. Forms need to be in to the bookstore by August 21, and are available at the church office, Maritime Christian Bookstore, or online at www.mcbookspei.com. There will be an ice cream party on Sat. Aug. 23 at 10:30 a.m., for all contest participants, with draws and prizes. We hope you will sign up, and have a wonderful summer.

Maritime Christian Bookstore is hosting a Summer Reading Program: From June 23 - August 23, which is open to all children and youth, ages 5 - 15. Each participant is encouraged to read at least 6 books, and for every completed and returned form, there will be a prize. Forms need to be in to the bookstore by August 21, and are available at Maritime Christian Bookstore, or on website www.mcbookspei.com. There will be an ice cream party on Sat. The Spring General Meeting of Canoe Cove Christian Camp Inc.: Will be held Sunday May 25th @ the camp @ 3 p.m. Our new Program Directors, Katrina and Steven Vessey, will report on plans for the upcoming summer camps. Following the meeting, a brief but well-deserved "Mortgage Burning" ceremony will be held for our many supporters who have paid off the new lodge building in such a short time. We will conclude with a potluck meal and fellowship. We look forward to seeing you there.
